10 More Sequels That Totally Ruined The Previous Movie's Ending
3. Chev Survives - Crank 2: High Voltage
Crank, a Jason Statham action film from 2006, is really, really dumb.
Statham’s character, Chev Chelios, is injected with a poison that will kill him if his adrenaline falls below a certain amount. Chev must undertake all sorts of dangerous and thrilling activities to keep himself alive, including but not limited to getting it on with his girlfriend in public.
The film ends with Chev falling out of a helicopter, sharing one final phone call with his beloved before he hits the ground. A sad, yet poignant end for a very silly character… until he’s revealed to have survived at the start of the sequel.
Despite clearly perishing in Crank 1, Chev is alive and well at the start of Crank 2: High Voltage. This time, he has his entire heart removed and replaced with an object that will kill him if he doesn’t keep electrocuting himself.
Not even public intercourse can save him this time.
Chev’s heartfelt death was sacrificed for a sequel that, in all honesty, wasn’t that good. Although, if you’re a fan of overblown action, you’ll find something to enjoy.
