10 MORE Times The MCU Betrayed Your Trust

Was that really all the President Loki we get?!

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is insanely popular, has been a license to print money for both Marvel Studios as well as Sony by association, and is without question the greatest shared universe franchise in movie history. However, it is far from perfect.

Aside from a small handful of underwhelming movies and wasted characters, there have been times when the MCU has promised or teased things that it simply didn’t deliver. It is usually an incredibly reliable franchise, but there are exceptions to this rule, so much so that it would take more than one WhatCulture article to delve into all of them.

The first ten times our trust was broken has already been explored, but there are far too many more to leave it at just that.

Whether this came as a character that never made it to the screens, a character that made it to screens and disappointed, or an aspect from the comics that couldn’t quite live up to the expectation set by the source material, there are plenty more times the biggest movie franchise in the world has been a complete let down.

10. King Loki (Loki)

Disney+ has been very good to the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far, but in the several series since, nothing has quite yet been able to match the bizarre theories that WandaVision allowed fans to come up with each week. That’s not to say there has been nothing however.

After Loki and Sylvie found the Citadel at the End of Time, there were many theories going around as to who would be the person behind the TVA. Many rightly thought Kang the Conqueror, or at least a Variant of the character, would show up, while others believed there would be another Loki Variant at the top of the chain.

This theory was based on a scene in the trailers that showed Loki upon a throne, basking in the glory of what he had been fighting for for so long. After five episodes, this version of the character had yet to be seen, so it made sense that he would show up in episode six.

However, in spite of getting fans very excited for what appeared to be a victorious, vindicated Loki, this was never actually featured in the series at all. For those who loved the more villainous side to the titular character, this was a crushing disappointment.
