8. Thanos' Downgrade (Avengers: Endgame)

Thanos was unlike any other villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After searching the universe for the Infinity Stones, he snapped his fingers, decimated half of all life, and sat back watching a grateful universe prosper. He won.

With his job done, and the Mad Titan having no interest in using the stones for anything other than what he saw as the correction of the universe, there were questions as to how he would fit into Avengers: Endgame. The answer disappointed a lot of people.

When the depleted Avengers found Thanos on the Garden, he was weakened. A shell of his former self. He was literally pushed around by Banner like a child in a playground, and though it was because he had no reason to fight anymore, this was one hell of a step down from the intimidating, peerless version of the character introduced a year earlier.

The greatest villain in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was killed with little fanfare, and though the past version of Thanos had a bigger role to play before the movie was over, present day Thanos suffered quite the downgrade.
