10 MORE Times The MCU Betrayed Your Trust

7. Kro (Eternals)

Iron Man 3 has, since its release, always been considered the most divisive of all the MCU movies. This was solely due to the Mandarin/Trevor Slattery twist, something that was hated by most fans, but defended by a minority that actually enjoyed it.

This title may now have been taken by Eternals. Panned by critics, but defended by some fans, it’s generally a tough movie to judge. One thing that can be taken as something of a consensus between both critics and fans however, is that it featured one of the most pointless villains in the franchise’s history.

The story of the movie appeared to be about the Eternals’ ongoing battle with the Deviants. After all, this was why the alien race was sent to Earth by Arishem in the first place, and while there was one Deviant that gained conscious thought from murdering Ajax and Gilgamesh, Kro was unceremoniously killed just minutes later without adding an ounce of substance to proceedings.

Kro, and the Deviant race in general, were painfully pointless. In a movie that was way too long, what was the point of giving the character this sub-plot only for it to make absolutely no difference to anything anyway? All this without mentioning the criminal waste of the talents of Bill Skarsgård.
