Some of the most iconic sounds ever to pop up in Star Wars have come from some of the most unexpected and unbelievable of places.

Take the sound of the blaster fire heard whenever a stormtrooper attempts to hit the target. This was actually discovered when sound designer Ben Burtt was hiking through the Poconos, with his backpack accidentally getting caught on a guy-wire - the wires used to add stability to structures that are free-standing - and creating an interesting sound (via Twenty Thousand Hertz/Nerdist).

From here, he'd go on to check out a few radio towers in Los Angeles before proceeding to hit more guy-wires until he eventually found the perfect sound to use for a blaster shot.

That's not the only unlikely sound eventually used to create Star Wars magic either.

As noted by Popular Mechanics, Burtt also took the noise elephants could be heard making in the 1958 movie The Roots of Heaven, slowed them down, and then combined them with the sound of a car driving through water to create the sound of a TIE fighter roaring through space.

And now you'll never be able to listen to those legendary Star Wars noises the same way again.
