10 More Upcoming Movies That Are Already Doomed
3. Red One
Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans' new holiday-themed blockbuster Red One wrapped shooting in February 2023, with a release date originally set for late 2023. However, word on the tentpole went curiously quiet throughout last year, until mere days before Christmas when it was announced that it had been delayed almost an entire year to November 15, 2024.
While on one hand the SAG-AFTRA strike was cited as the reason for the delay, and the film absolutely needs to release around the holidays, reports soon emerged suggesting that it's in dire behind-the-scenes straits.
Reliable insider Jeff Sneider claims he's heard the film is "an unmitigated disaster," while noting an apparent lack of chemistry between Johnson and Evans, and that the studio doesn't even feel the issues can be smoothed over by reshoots.
While on one hand bland blockbusters are basically Johnson's brand at this point, given that Red One is teaming Jumanji director Jake Kasdan with Fast and the Furious writer Chris Morgan, it's reasonable to expect better.
Amazon still has most of a year to whip the film into shape before release, but if the scuttlebutt can be believed, it's not looking good.
