10 Most Annoying Christmas Movies Of All Time
9. Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever
"Aubrey Plaza brings the internet sensation to life" is a sentence that should never find its way into the trailer for a Lifetime Original Movie. Ever. And yet, anyone actually curious (and masochistic) enough to sit through an advertisement for Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever had their ear holes accosted by that very phrase.
Plaza became famous for playing a sardonic, listless, perpetually crabby underachiever on Parks and Recreation. In the wake of the show's finale, her specific brand of droopy-eyed sarcasm made her susceptible to typecasting of the highest order.
And so, in a twisted sort of way, it makes sense that she caved in and agreed to sleepwalk through some voice acting that makes Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties feel like Shakespearian theater.
It's basically one long eye roll and drawn out "whatever" set during what's supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year. And there might be something refreshing in its contempt if it was played straight. Or if it wasn't merely an excuse for holiday merchandising.
