1. Thanos' Design

The MCU is bigger than any other movie franchise in history. With an unprecedented amount of movies, heroes, villains, stories, and smaller franchises underneath the Marvel Studios umbrella, there could conceivably be any number of characters counted as main.

Along side the likes of Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor, it’s not unreasonable to class Thanos among the biggest and best characters of the franchise. Avengers: Infinity War was his movie, but before finally taking center stage his design was changed far too often.

He was originally portrayed by Damion Poitier for the post credit scene of the Avengers, and was a very dark purple to the point that he was almost red. His look changed dramatically when he appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy, not only taking on an almost bluish hue, but a change of face while being brought to life by Josh Brolin.

Once again he changed for Infinity War, with his now iconic and most famous look, but why did it take Marvel so long to settle on it? Clearly it was decided he would be a huge part of the franchise as early as Phase One, so why couldn’t a set aesthetic be designed and kept to over the coming years?
