10 Most Annoying Minor Characters In The MCU
3. Raza
Raza wasn’t too bad on a first watch, though no one would say he’s particularly memorable. The problem is that with Thanos, Hela, Killmonger, Loki, Yellowjacket etc, we’ve been spoiled by the MCU.
We’ve have some amazing villains in the franchise over the years, and the original bland, teeth gnashing bad guy just doesn’t stack up when you watch Iron Man 1 over. He has no believable goals, no range, no flaws even; it’s hard to believe he exists when he’s off screen.
He’s there as a foil for typical comic book bad guys. Prior to the MCU putting their thumb on the scales, there were just as many terrible ones as great ones; even Doctor Doom got butchered on screen. Raza is a standard evil Arab, there to stop you looking behind the curtain.
In Jeff Bridges’ Obediah Stane, the film does serve up an actual villain with substantial depth, but it’s to the detriment of Raza. Rather than try to show the pair of them working together, the movie just sacrifices Raza to make Stane’s reveal more telling.
The MCU has certainly grown in stature since then, but it does get a bit irritating rewatching Raza these days.
