10 Most Annoying Minor Characters In The MCU

2. Darcy

Kat Dennings Darcy Thor The Dark World

Much like the Warriors Three, Darcy was cut from Waiti’s vision of Thor, along with Erik Selvig and Jane Foster. Selvig can probably consider himself unlucky to have been booted from the franchise, while conversely Foster probably would have featured here if not for her fact that having her and Darcy together would feel like overkill.

Darcy though best sums up exactly why the first two Thor movies were off the mark. Waititi has frequently talked about the fact Thor is a space Viking when discussing the tone he chose, but it’s this magical wackiness that those first two movies were missing.

They took themselves far too seriously, kept Thor tied to Earth rather than unleashing his potential, and just generally focussed on the most boring aspects of his character. Kat Dennings is a competent comedic actress, as Two Broke Girls showed us, but here everything thuds. She’s forcing it, and it really shows.

Despite great comedic timing in Ragnarok, initially Hemsworth is forced to rein his natural humour in, while Portman has never been particularly funny anyway. Skarsgard is supposed to be the straight man, so it’s Dennings’ Darcy doing all the legwork, and it really shows.
