10 Most Anticipated Original Horror Films 2019
7. Captive State
A science-fiction and action movie with a thick vein of horror running down the middle, Captive State is the result of District 9 and Attack the Block making sweet, sweet love. Ten years after extraterrestrial forces have occupied earth, there are those that comply, and those that resist the alien rule - and it's up to Chicago police officer John Goodman to unite forces against the overwhelming other worldly forces in any way that he can.
With some seriously creepy looking monsters hinted at within the trailer and an oppressive totalitarian rule, Captive State brings an uneasy, dark tone along with all its explosions and hyped up music that suggests a far scarier experience than simple alien warfare. With Rupert Wyatt directing, famous for Rise of the Planet of the Apes no less, you know you're going to get a true sense of large-scale meaning to every small action that plays out on screen.
Whether its assimilation or infiltration, Captive State should have audiences in a... well, Captive State upon release if the trailer is anything to go by.
