6. The Curse Of La Llorona
Based on tales from Mexican folklore, The Curse of La Llorona has the opportunity to really bring some deeply cultural phenomenons to life in terrifying fashion, since there's already a wealth of experiences out there to base it on. Legend has it that La Llorona is a woman who drowned her children in a river in a fit of rage at her cheating husband, before realising her mistake and killing herself.
At the gates of heaven, she's denied entry until she finds her lost children in the water, resulting in hearing wails and cries heard by those claiming to have seen her. She will take any children she finds as her own, and drown them upon realising they're not.
How much of the urban legend will be included is yet to be seen, but the James Wan-produced vehicle centres around a single mother hunted by the curse of the weeping woman in a bid to save her children with the help of a local faith healer. There's so many possibilities with the narrative that it really could take any shape at this point, but either way, it's an exciting prospect to wait for.
