8. Ip Man - Ip Man Vs. Ten Black Belts

It's hard to pick just one fight from the Ip Man franchise. Donnie Yen's portrayal of the Wing Chun master has stamped his way through numerous opponents in perilous scenarios, from fighting three Grand Masters on a precariously-balanced table in Ip Man 2 to surviving a three-minute round with Mike Tyson in the third film.

However, nothing beats the emotional and physical rawness of Ip Man's fight against ten black belts. Losing everything after the 1937 Japanese invasion, Ip Man looks for his friend at a martial arts arena, where Chinese martial artists can win a bag of rice for every beaten black belt. Learning his friend most likely died trying, Ip Man challenged ten masters of Japanese martial arts.

In previous fight scenes, the reserved martial artist has shown restraint in his fighting style. Not here, as Ip Man proceeds to mercilessly beat each black belt into senselessness. What's more impressive is Ip Man hasn't practised his craft for years, weakened working in a coal mine with lack of food, yet he still effortlessly defeats each fighter.

The emotional pay-off and Donnie Yen's martial art expertise help bring the scene to life. Things feel even less far-fetched when learning Donnie Yen sent eight men to the hospital after they harassed his girlfriend at a nightclub. Take all the bags of rice you need, Donnie.
