There are a whole lot of scenes in Julie & Julia that will make your mouth water, as you might expect in a film that was made to celebrate the joy found in food. It doesn’t show Julie Powell cooking ALL of the 524 recipes from a child’s cookbook, but there are a few in there that look like good fun.
The scene that stands out above all the others comes right at the beginning. The lemon sole shows chef Julia Child (Meryl Streep) and husband Paul (Stanley Tucci) enjoying sole mariniere in a French restaurant. Brought to the table bones and all, Julia has to wait a little while the waiter prepares it.
She shows it's worth that wait though. Her inability to form full words and stutter as Tucci reassures her “I know, I know” leaves viewers wandering just what they fried that sole in.
