10 Most Brutal Deaths In James Bond Films
007. Tracy Bond - On Her Majesty's Secret Service
One of arguably only three or four deaths in the series 51 year history that Bond has actually cared about. The death of his wife.
Bond and Tracy fell in love throughout the course of On Her Majesty's Secret Service and there's no denying it that in both the book and the film, the two are very much in love by the time that they marry. It's a beautiful wedding and the two drive away happily. Throughout the course of some newlywed flirting, Bond remembered that he never gave Tracy any flowers, the greatest crime for any British gentleman to commit. So he decided to pull over at the side of the road and remove the flowers that were decorating the car. Suddenly Blofeld, who we all thought was dead, drove past and fired a machine gun. Bond managed to not get hit and assumed that his wife is safe. He jumps back in the car, ready for action, before realising that Tracy has been shot.
We see Bond cry. Tracy's death was quick and not as brutal as others mentioned in this article but it's the impact that really has an effect. For the first and only time, the film ends with Bond losing. No major bad guy has been dispatched and Bond has lost his wife. If nothing else, that's a brutal way to end a film.
