10 Most Brutal Moments In The MCU

3. John Walker Puts Blood On The Shield - Falcon And The Winter Soldier

In Captain America: Civil War's climactic battle, there was an opportunity for Steve Rogers to kill Tony Stark by smashing his shield with full power onto the bare face of Stark.

Of course, Steve didn't do that, and instead he smashed the shield towards the arc reactor so that the Armored Avenger couldn't fight anymore. Captain America should never kill a defenceless person, and therefore Steve is worthy of the Cap mantle. Unfortunately, John Walker is no Steve Rogers.

Fast forward years later, Walker became the wielder of the Captain America name and found himself in a similar moment of smashing his shield towards a defenceless foe. Unlike the scene in Civil War, the man on the other side of the shield isn’t so lucky this time.

Captain America’s shield gets literally tainted with blood as he encounters the Flag Smasher, who he thought killed his best friend, Lemar Hoskins. Even though there are people recording the helpless man begging for mercy, Walker's Cap jams the shield into his rival's chest at full power. One hit from a super soldier with an indestructible shield is strong enough to crush ribs, but John hits the man again and again until his lifeless and bloody hand hits the pavement.

What image is more provocative than the symbol of America being stained with blood?
