10 Most Brutal Slasher Movie Killers

Behold the bloodiest butchers in horror cinema!

Terrifier Art the Clown
Dread Central

The origin of the slasher genre has always been up for debate. Some believe its inception occurred in 1960, whereas others think it exploded onto the scene in 1974, and there are even some who maintain it arrived as late as 1978.

One thing is for certain though; these sardonic outsiders are the truest incarnations of our nightmares, that have been brought to life for our displeasure in the most distasteful ways imaginable.

The imagination of these killers is exemplified by their choice of oh-so brutal brilliance, ranging from simple mayhem all the way to the most terrible massacres. This top ten pits the worst of the worst of the slashers against each other to see which one is the most diabolically neurotic of fiends, and which ones are least likely to maul us like a wild dog.

10. John Doe

Terrifier Art the Clown
New Line Cinema

(First appearance: Seven - 1995)

Based around the seven deadly sins, the appropriately named Seven is a journey into the mind of a psychopath, one that begets a cat and mouse game between two detectives chasing an unknown serial killer - who even when finally tracked down does not have a name to speak of. Hence the pragmatic alias of John Doe.

Names aside though, John Doe is a manipulative genius whose mysticism is the driving force for the entire film. Who is he? Where did he come from? Why is he doing all of this? These questions and more are left hanging in the air. Contrarily, in juxtaposition to this, there is one question that was answered by this carnage-causing psychopath: "What's in the box?"

When we find out what's in the box, we bask in the same horrific disbelief as Brad Pitt's David Mills does. The contents of this enigmatic container are none other than the severed head of his wife - which if you followed the film properly instigates a suggestion that is beyond disturbing, especially when tied with the fact that his unsuspecting wife was pregnant at the time.

Doe boy breaks into the top ten, but due to only appearing in one film, his kill list is too limited to challenge the adversaries to come.
