8. Ouija Board - Ouija: Origin Of Evil (2016)

Also known as a Spirit Board, a Ouija Board was originally intended as an innocent parlour game when it first hit shelves in 1892.

Although this board etched with letters and numbers was touted as allowing users to commune with spirits and the unknown, it wasn’t until a 12-year-old girl was possessed by a demon after using a one in The Exorcist that Ouija boards became synonymous with the demonic.

Ever since, Ouija Boards have made numerous appearances in horror, with Veronica and I Am Zozo being some recent examples. But if there’s one film that taught viewers never to mess with a Ouija Board, it was Mike Flanagan’s Ouija: Origin Of Evil.

The far superior sequel to 2014’s Ouija, Origin Of Evil follows the Zander family who use trickery to convince customers they're communing with deceased loved ones. However, when they include a Ouija Board in their act they learn that interacting with the dead is far more dangerous than they imagined after the youngest daughter (Lulu Wilson) becomes a conduit for an unwanted visitor.

As equally heartfelt as it is creepy, this flick is a testament to both Flanagan's flare for horror and Ouija Boards' terrifying legacy.
