But what we do know is that the Brits 1989 were the most squirm inducing, cringeworthy, cock up of an award show ever broadcasted on the planet anywhere ever. (Yes it requires double emphasis). I remember watching it when I was 10 and even I was embarrassed at that young age. The fiasco featured fluffed lines, guests coming in at the wrong times, Michael Jackson's acceptance speech was not broadcast. Oy vey! It was shambolic. The disastrous episode ensured that the BRITs would be pre-recorded for the next 18 years. It ranked very highly in Channel 4's TV Hell which is a masterpiece of embarrassing television tomfoolery.
