Like many films that end up on Netflix, Desire was seemingly destined to fly under the radar. That was, however, until the few people who did give the film a chance were immediately met with one of the most uncomfortable opening scenes of the decade so far.
Depicting a young girl experiencing her first orgasm accidentally, the scene immediately inspired outrage for allegedly being akin to child pornography, with viewers demanding Netflix themselves remove the film from the service, otherwise lose their subscription.
The director has since defended the scene, but the explanation hasn't exactly made it sit any better, and at the time of writing it's unclear whether or not Netflix will bow to the demands to remove it from their library.
