At first, William (played by Douglas) appears to be just another guy who's had a crappy day at work. Sick of the incessant traffic jams, he gets out of his car and decides to walk home instead. It is his daughter's birthday, after all. A little later in the film, it transpires that William has actually been something of a nuisance after the split from his wife, and isn't supposed to be seeing his daughter at all. We kind of see that side of him on his walk 'home', as he starts to fight back against every day injustices, whether it be overpriced drinks in the Korean man's store, or Latino hoodlums who fancy having a pop. William is almost lovable in that he refuses to take any more of the world's s***. He just loses it, becoming something of a vigilante, public nuisance and deadpan humour specialist. A truly well-rounded psycho.
