It's all in the title. Bale plays Patrick Bateman; an incredibly memorable and outrageous Psychopath residing in the good old USA. The film details the life of Bateman, an exquisitely insane man who (we think) carried out some very distasteful and uncalled for murders, though the audience never find out for certain that these weren't just Patrick's warped fantasies. The fact that Bateman is a considerably wealthy and successful man renders his character even more flawed; he doesn't seem to suffer any hardship and is left wanting for nothing. But, clearly that's not enough for some people. The slicked back hair and infectious grin are Bateman's trademark in the movie, not to mention his penthouse apartment that is the scene of a few of his wackier moments.
