One of the most well-received psychopaths on this list, it is universally agreed that Hopkins absolutely nailed his performance as the genius cannibal, Dr. Hannibal Lecter. The penetrating eyes, whispy hair and minimal mask designed to stop him eating people all contribute in making Dr. Lecter downright frightening to look at. If you add his slithery speech, innate ability to play people and strange likability into the equation, you have one of the all-time great psycho performances. The fact that Lecter knows how to escape padded cells doesn't help, either. Unlike some psychopaths on this list though, you know that somewhere behind his lust for human flesh and contempt for people, there's a good guy lurking, waiting to burst forth in a moment that is never fully realised.
