10 Most Depressing Things About Justice League
4. It's Based On The New 52
It's fair to say DC's New 52 era was a period of hits and misses for the publisher, but its decision to pull the plug on it entirely doesn't bode well for Justice League.
The Zack Snyder movie takes its creative cues from this chapter of DC history, which divided fans to the extent that another line-wide reboot was deemed necessary.
Despite some of its more experimental titles being axed early on, the New 52 had its fair share of successes, but its mistakes could be problematic for Justice League.
Among them was its portrayal of Wonder Woman, who did not enjoy the same billing as the rebooted Batman and Superman and had her origin story debased.
Even DC co-publisher Dan Didio blamed the New 52 for “diluting the brand", so why is the movie is immersing itself in a such a divisive era of the DC Universe?
