10 Most Depressing Things About Justice League
3. All Those Reshoots
Sometimes a studio orders a lorryload of expensive reshoots because they're sheer perfectionists, but mostly it's because the project is a car crash in its current form.
Reports by trade mag Variety suggest segments of Justice League required an extensive retooling from Joss Whedon following Zack Snyder's departure - and we're talking overhauls, rather than tweaks here.
The studio splurged $25 million on said reshoots, which is a whopping great amount when you consider an average movie requires $10 million's worth, give or take.
It's unclear whether that sum covered the digital removal of the mustache Henry Cavill grew for the next Mission: Impossible sequel and was forbidden to shave off by Paramount Pictures. A hairy situation indeed.
The Justice League reshoots are said to have been necessary to fix some “connective tissue” in the bigger set piece battles and “punch up” some of the dialogue, but the extent of them is disquieting.
