Of course, Natasha wasn’t the only Avenger to perish during Avengers: Endgame. Her death was devastating, as would be expected for an incredibly popular character who had been in the franchise for longer than almost anyone else, but she was never going to make it to the top of this list.

Without Iron Man, there would be no Marvel Cinematic Universe. The character kicked everything off way back in 2008, and went on an incredible journey throughout the next 11 years. But as the man said himself, part of the journey is the end, it’s just that fans weren’t even slightly ready for it.

Steve Rogers once said that Tony Stark wasn’t the kind of guy to make the sacrifice play. There was a time when perhaps that would have been true, however more recently Captain America also described Tony Stark as Earth’s best defender, and it’s hard to argue with him on that one.

Tony stole the Infinity Stones right from out of Thanos’ hands, and snapped his own fingers to rid the world of Thanos and his entire army, killing himself in the process. He was without question the MCU’s greatest ever character, and he left the franchise in the same way he entered it… declaring that he was in fact, Iron Man.
