There was a fleeting moment in Avengers: Age of Ultron, the movie in which both characters were properly introduced to the MCU, where Vision and Wanda Maximoff shared a glance. This suggested that their romance from the comics would be coming to the screen, something that came to life throughout the rest of their tenures.

At that point, there was no telling just how close the two would become, and just how painful their separation would be. Not least because after Wanda had lost everyone that she loved in her life, she was forced to lose Vision another three times.

The first time she was forced to actually kill him herself. In order to protect the world from a fully-gauntleted Thanos, Wanda destroyed the Mind Stone which in turn killed her love. However, the Mad Titan used the Time Stone to go back a few seconds and rip the stone from Vision’s forehead. Wanda had done the hardest thing she could have ever been asked to do, and it was all for nothing.

Fast forward a few weeks to when she had seen the error of her ways and was bringing down her Hex around Westview, she knew that Vision and her boys couldn’t survive without it, but had to do it anyway. Tommy and Billy’s vanishing was painful, but yet another time Wanda having to say goodbye to Vision was almost too much to take.
