10 Most Disappointing Harry Potter Movie Moments

9. Borgin And Burkes – The Chamber Of Secrets

Young Snape
Warner Bros.

Harry’s first experience with Floo powder wasn’t very successful. He ended up in Knockturn Alley (a street dedicated to the Dark Arts) and could have run into serious trouble if it wasn’t for Hagrid’s timely arrival.

Though the filmmakers deserve credit for creating a creepy atmosphere, Harry’s time in Borgin and Burkes was rather disappointing. Other than a brief struggle with the Hand of Glory, there isn’t much tension in the scene.

In the novel, Harry is forced to hide in a cabinet to avoid being seen by Draco Malfoy and his father. He overhears a lengthy conversation between Lucius and Mr Borgin about some of the former’s dark artefacts. As well as being an interesting look into the lives of the Malfoy family, there’s also plenty of intensity. Harry has to remain completely silent as he eavesdrops on the conversation, and at one point, Draco almost discovers him.

Annoyingly, this interesting scene was actually filmed during the making of The Chamber of Secrets, but possibly due to the long runtime of the film, it didn’t make the final cut.
