10 Most Disappointing Harry Potter Movie Moments

8. The Arrival Of Beauxbatons And Durmstrang – The Goblet Of Fire

The instant Harry arrives at Hogwarts for his fourth year, the students from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang arrive via a flying carriage and an underwater ship respectively. And the problem with this abrupt arrival is that there’s simply no build-up.

In the book, the reader learns about the Triwizard Tournament as soon as Harry gets to Hogwarts, but the international schools don’t arrive for over a month, and as such, there’s a great sense of anticipation beforehand.

What’s more, the new arrivals simply sit down and soak in the castle. They don’t parade in front of the Hogwarts students like they do in the movie. And though this sequence was quite entertaining at first, it comes across as cringeworthy with repeated viewings.

It’s also strange that the filmmakers decided to make Beauxbatons an all-girls school and Durmstrang an all-boys school. It’s a small detail, but it’s another unnecessary deviation from the source material.
