No. Just no. There's far too much wrong with this movie to just blame Berry, but her take on Catwoman is one of the most misguided and utterly irredeemable performances in the history of cinematic endeavour. Of course, the most disappointing thing about this travesty of filmmaking failure was that we were led to believe in the build-up to its release that it would be
good. Halle Berry - Oscar-winning Halle Berry! - would be playing Catwoman, which - in the days when the world still wasn't totally sure about comic book adaptations - was a step forward. The final results actually took us back about a hundred and twenty seven steps, to be honest.
Catwoman fails in every regard, including characterisation, because Berry really doesn't do anything right with her character - to the point in which the Academy called her up and considered the idea of actually taking back her Oscar, because they couldn't believe it was the same actress as the one in
Monster's Ball. Not really, but that's funny to imagine. Anyway, what we got served up here remains the most disappointing take on a popular hero
ever. Burn it down.
