10 Most Disappointing Horror Movie Remakes

7. One Missed Call (2008)

Almost exclusively, if a horror movie is being adapted from its origin country into a palatable American version that skips out on the subtitles, it's going to be a car crash. One Missed Call is perhaps the most visceral version of that then, as it's basically an 18 wheeler head-on collision that's then set on fire and explodes as everyone watches on with tears in their eyes.

The film is a remake 2003 Takashi Miike movie of the same name, that sees a strange connection between phone calls and death play out with supernatural consequences. 2008's version, however, transforms Miike's film from an intense J-horror into a big, dumb, and no-fun blockbuster that borrows far too liberally from everything else around it to ever be considered a solid, original narrative. If you want to watch a movie struggle to justify its existence with terrible performances and painful storytelling, then go right on ahead.

Save yourself the trouble if you haven't already seen this bonfire, and make this movie One Close Call instead.
