10 Most Disappointing Horror Movies Of 2019 (So Far)

3. Escape Room

Again, maybe asking for too much from a movie that is so clearly a cash-in on a real world trend (see also Slender Man) might be stupid, but Escape Room still had some promise, all the same.

Not to be confused with the TWO other films named exactly the same thing since 2017, this Escape Room essentially looked to blend the trap entertainment of Saw with the brutality of something like Cube. Well, more than a blend - it was like someone had smushed them together and this was the result.

Had the film-makers focused on allowing the premise to sell itself, it would have been far better, but instead, they clearly got wind of the potential for a Final Destination-style franchise and got well ahead of themselves, which betrayed this film. A true shame.
