10 Most Disappointing MCU Moments
5. Nobody Dies - Captain America: Civil War
When a movie has the words "Civil War" in its title, it's pretty damn reasonable to expect a couple of fatalities, but in the case of the third Captain America film, not a single active superhero ended up on the chopping block.
Yes, Crossbones (Frank Grillo) is killed early on as is T'Challa's father T'Chaka (John Kani) and an elderly Peggy Carter (Haley Atwell), but despite the film's premise being focused on the divided Avengers battling one another, they all emerge mostly unscathed.
The closest the film gets to flirting with real peril is War Machine's (Don Cheadle) paralysis after being shot out of the sky by Vision (Paul Bettany), but even that is basically brushed under the carpet by film's end.
Having at least one major character die during the airport fight would've solidified just how high the stakes were, and instead the lack of death only compounded one of the biggest issues with the MCU - an absence of stakes.
While Kevin Feige and the Russos argued that the film was more concerned with the "divorce" of the Avengers ahead of Infinity War, it still made it seem like the heroes were just playing pretend at the airport when everyone came out of it living and breathing.
