10 Most Disappointing Movies Of 2019 (So Far)
3. Men In Black: International
What It Promised
After the franchise high-point of Men In Black III, this spin-off came in place of the hotly-anticipated 21 Jump Street/MIB crossover we were SUPPOSED to get at one point, but it still promised a lot. This is, after all, a rich, imaginative world that could rival the Wizarding World in terms of immersive potential.
And while the original series stars bowed out, replacing them with Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth off the back of their work together on Thor: Ragnarok looked like a slam dunk, even when the trailers weren't massively exciting.
But Really...
Thanks to some well-reported creative clashes during the production, the script was written on the fly and the story was messed around a fair bit and it really shows. Even without major reshoots, the story is a little uninspiring and the script itself is woefully inferior to the world-building and the characters.
There's still enough to suggest potential in the franchise, but the substance and the story really need to be a lot better than this if there's to be a future.
