10 Most Disappointing Sequels Ever

7. Spider-Man 3

spiderman3 Sam Raimi's Spider-Man was very good, Spider-Man 2 was exceptional so the the fact that they would round off a stunning comic book trilogy with an epic finale was almost taken for granted. Rumours of the studio sticking their oar in got people a little worried, but still, nobody ever thought we would end up with the mess that Spider-Man 3 turned out to be. In all honesty, when I first saw it in the cinema in 2007, I didn't hate it. I found it quite enjoyable, but having re-watched it a few times since then I notice more and more terrible things with each viewing. Watching it a few months back, the true horror became clear to me. Too many villains, emo-Peter Parker is just so bad you don't know whether to laugh or cry and the action just didn't have quite the same level of quality as its predecessors. What could have been one of the greatest trilogies of all time falls quite painfully short, I do feel for Sam Raimi as without Venom (who was apparently forced in by the studio) this could have worked well and wrapped up the three film story arc very nicely.
