6. Hannibal
Silence Of The Lambs is an absolute classic, taught and tense with a wonderful performance from Anthony Hopkins, so the chance to continue the story the story of Hannibal Lecter and Clarice Starling with Ridley Scott at the helm got people pretty excited. Julianne Moore replacing Jodie Foster wasn't ideal, but Moore was a great actress and it definitely should have worked. It turned out that Moore was actually not the biggest problem with the film, the problem was having Hannibal Lecter wandering around Rome, he was significantly less chilling. He is so much scarier buried underground and trapped in his cell, here he just seems like some old bloke wandering around Italy killing people. The film seems to be more about shocking, gory moments and loses the focus on the psychological elements that made the first film so great. There are far worse films out there but I just could not enjoy this next chapter of Hannibal Lecter's story. Hannibal Rising is of course a far worse film, but this film was so much more disappointing.
