10 Most Distracting Cameos In 21st Century Films

4. Woody Harrelson - Venom

Venom is perhaps the most bizarre superhero film of the last decade. It ultimately does not work because it tries to embrace the cartoony comic book world of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, mimic the quippy dialogue of the MCU while keeping one foot in the grounded reality of the Christopher Nolan films.

This strange hybrid of a movie embraces the sequel-baiting that usually accompanies superhero movies as the final image the audience sees is Woody Harrelson in a jail grinning like a madman wearing a terrible ginger wig. Other than the deeply disturbing nature of the A-Lister literally looking down the camera at the audience, the film continues to break the fourth wall as it dawns on the audience "oh, it's Woody Harrelson".

The well known actor more than likely did this end credits cameo as a favour for Venom's director Ruben Fleischer who had also directed him in Zombieland. Whatever his motivations where for entering the Venom universe, the cameo does ultimately feel like the studio tried to salvage the film from being a complete disaster by plonking a big name at the end of the film to hook an audience for a future instalment.
