10 Most Distracting Cameos In 21st Century Films
5. James Corden - Ocean's Eight
Ocean's Eight was the second high profile film which attempted to reboot a well known franchise with a female cast after 2016's Ghostbusters. Interesting to note that both the reboots still chose to stick with male writers and directors instead of showcasing female talent behind the scenes too which may have actually created something memorable instead of the bland mess we got in both cases.
Ocean's Eight is the epitome of a three star film: harmless, fine and even fun at times but with no personality. However, no one asked for James Corden to appear in Ocean's Eight and yet this is what we got. Corden does get an unfair amount of hate but this role did nothing to win him any new fans as he stuck out like a sore thumb playing John Frazier, the only English character in an American cast.
It is incredible that they chose Corden to play the insurance investigator, a job which you could not picture the late night host convincingly playing, and did not even bother to give him an American accent to differentiate between his well known English persona. Why they did not get a character actor or a more beloved and more inconspicuous actor in this role is anyone's guess.
