Sometimes, you don't need loud, bombastic scenery or terrifying beasties to be disturbing, all you need is to take a beloved character and put them under intense duress.

In The Deathly Hallows Part 1, Ron, Hermione and Harry find themselves at the mercy of the terrifying Bellatrix Lestrange after being captured by Snatchers. She begins to torture Hermione as Harry and Ron are locked in a cell, powerless to stop her.

While the torture itself isn't too taxing, it's the relentless screams performed by Emma Watson that make this scene uncomfortable. You can truly feel the excruciating pain being inflicted on the loveable witch, and the reveal that Lestrange has carved the word Mudblood into her arm is the cherry on top of this disturbing sundae.

There are plenty of extravagant and wild scenes in the franchise. Thus the simplicity of Lestrange's torture seems out of place, making it feel far more visceral and painful for you and Hermione. It's a very well handled segment that doesn't overindulge and gives you the right amount of horror.
