10 Most Disturbing Harry Potter Movie Moments
8. Mad Eye Moody's Lesson - Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire
From the get-go, Mad-Eye Moody seemed like a shady character. While he had some bright moments, there was a sinister side to him just waiting to unleash itself, and this scene was one of the first sections that hinted at something dangerous.
This section of the fourth movie - Goblet of Fire - saw the erratic teacher educate his students on the taboo subject of the three unforgivable curses. He did this by taking a small bug, enlarging it, and putting it through each one.
Moody started with Imperio, a spell that allows you to control the subject, then Crucio, which tortured the poor creature, and finally the killing spell, Avada Kedavra.
Of course, the audience eventually found out that this wasn't the real work of Mad-Eye Moody, but instead Barty Crouch Jr using polyjuice potion. When watching the segment back, this adds an extra layer to the disturbing nature of the scene, as he was a wolf in sheep's clothing the whole time.
A lot of horrible things are going on in this segment, as the foundation relies on the wretched screams of the bug as it is tortured. However the segment also reveals a lot about Neville's relationship to the Crucio spell and the killing curse's ramifications, both of which would become significant aspects of future instalments.
