10 Most Disturbing Movie Endings Of All Time
3. Kill List (2011)
Kill List is a horror film that isn’t really a horror film until the final twenty minutes, and yet a tone of unease and dread simmers throughout. Only in the final reels does it reach boiling point when Jay is kidnapped and forced to take part in a ritual which results in him stabbing his disguised wife and son, assuming they are a member of the cult.
Any time a film ends with a father killing his young son it’s going to be disturbing. But here the scene and reveal is done with such a cold gaze (At least in The Mist the camera cuts to outside the car) that you can barely comprehend what has just happened. Before you have a chance to figure out the whats and the whys, the film simply ends.
Again, like Martyrs, Kill List doesn’t disturb for the sake of it and immediately warrants a second watch to catch all the clues and details you missed first time around in trying to figure out how things went south so quickly, and seemingly out of nowhere.
