10 Most Embarrassing CGI Moments In Recent Movies
1. Truck In Water - Armor
And finally, we have the recent Sylvester Stallone-starring action flick Armor, which in addition to landing a brutal 0% on Rotten Tomatoes, features perhaps the worst CGI water in any movie ever.
The film climaxes with protagonists James Brody (Jason Patric) and his son Casey (Josh Wiggins) struggling to escape their armoured truck after it ends up crashing into a river.
The problem? The film's budget evidently couldn't stretch to staging such a sequence for real, and so it was recreated digitally. The shots of the truck in the water look like low-fi Unreal Engine assets clunkily dumped in the frame, while the "water" shown flooding into the truck would've looked out of place in a PS3 game.
To make matters worse, when we see James and Casey moving about the truck as it fills with water, it's hilariously clear they're not actually getting wet whatsoever.
There's embarrassing CGI and there's... this fresh hell. The lesson here? Don't write an elaborate aquatic action sequence if you don't have the money to make it work.
