10 Most Embarrassing CGI Moments In Recent Movies

2. Cesar's Skull - Megalopolis

Francis Ford Coppola's Megalopolis is an absolutely baffling picture - a bold $136 million epic that manages to look overwhelmingly expensive and mortifyingly cheap all at the same time.

The CGI-heavy sci-fi drama touts its fair share of unconvincing green screen, but the single most laughable effect in the movie? Cesar Catilina's (Adam Driver) new skull, which is rebuilt with the element Megalon after he's shot in the head in an assassination attempt.

The glowing skull effect when Cesar first removes his bandages doesn't look much better than a free face filter you can find on innumerable smartphone apps. The VFX would be ridiculous in a low-budget film directed by a no-namer, but in a huge-budget arthouse blockbuster helmed by one of the greatest filmmakers of all time, funded with his own coffers no less?

It's truly woeful to look at, and only makes the experience of sitting through Megalopolis that much more depressing.
