9. The Matrix Reloaded

The Matrix Reloaded has plenty of problems, but that super-awkward sex scene between Neo and Trinity takes the cake.

Many people (this writer included) sat through this movie with their mum, and on first viewing the 'love moment' is a real surprise. The first Matrix film was a fairly sexless affair, except for the Woman in the Red Dress's cameo, and so fans had little reason to expect rutting in the sequel.

Inter-cut with Zion's sweaty rave, Neo and Trinity's sex scene seems to last forever. You came to the film for more agent-busting goodness and instead, you're watching through your fingertips as Keanu's mid-coitus face fills the screen. It's pretty tame compared to other scenes on this list, but it feels out of place and unnecessary. Especially when the film could use a few minutes trimmed off here or there.

While the rest of the movie has scenes you want to turn to your mum and discuss, this one leaves you unable to even acknowledge her presence. And then Monica Bellucci appears in an obscene dress about an hour later, bringing more awkwardness to the table.
