10 Most Emotional Moments In Pixar Movies

6. Bing Bong’s Death – Inside out

Inside Out Bing Bong
Pixar

When Bing Bong first appeared in Inside Out, he was indeed a mystery. From stealing Riley’s memories, to putting Sadness and Joy into dangerous situations, it was hard to decipher if he was merely comic relief, or someone antagonistic leading our main emotions astray. Instead, Bing Bong became one of the most selfless and empathetic characters in all of Pixar.

When he and Joy have fallen into the Memory Dump, they have very little time before they have both been forgotten. Bong sees his body fading away but hides it away from Joy, concentrating on getting them to safety. Using his Rocket Wagon, Bing Bong quickly realises he is weighing it down and in a heart-breaking silent shot, he jumps off the back, allowing Joy to fly to safety.

As an imaginary friend, it is a natural and beautiful end for the character, realising Riley no longer needs him and would only be holding her back. His final words bring tears to our eyes, as he finally lets her go.
