7. Neytiri
In 2009, director James Cameron finally released Avatar after 15 years in development. Although this blockbuster received mixed reviews with regards to the lengthy Pocahontas-esque storyline... there is no denying that the film was visually stunning! Avatar won the OSCAR awards for Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography and Best Visual Effects. Thus emphasising how the use of CGI played a key role in this film. Zoe Saldana as Neytiri, the daughter of the Omaticaya Na'vi clan of Pandora, is the face of Avatar. Smurfs were no longer the only blue people in the village (so to speak), until their comeback in 2011. Avatar had spawn a Pandoran craze in popular culture. In computing, an 'avatar' is a graphical representation of a user's identity, especially used online within social networking sites. Since the film release of Avatar, many 'avatars' have paid homage to the film by being blue with Na'vi attributes like the exotically sapient Neytiri. Avatar 2 is due to be released in 2015, although it shouldn't be surprising if James Cameron decides to postpone the release date another decade or so...
