It turns out that the initial showdown was just part one of their final confrontation, as shortly after Kong's victory, Godzilla brushed himself off, and the pair went at it again. Kong started strong but eventually struggled to compete as Godzilla tore his chest and bested him by standing above the great ape with his foot firmly planted on his chest.
While the fight itself was epic, the stand-out moment had to be their final face-off, where the King of Monsters declared victory by performing his iconic roar in Kong's face, who returned the favour by yelling out his own call, proving that although his body was defeated, his fighting spirit wasn't.
The sequence was excellent, as it established a decisive victor but also gave Kong a chance to remain mighty in defeat. Sure, seeing the pair fight was what audiences went in for, but just watching the iconic characters share in a brief moment of respect was unforgettable.
