10 Most Epic Moments From Godzilla Vs. Kong
8. Kong Throws A Javelin
Opening a MonsterVerse movie is a very tricky thing to do, as you don't want to give away too much, but you also don't want to leave the audience without a solid hook. It's safe to say that this intro captured something interesting and showed off a dramatic twist which would become the basis for Kong's drive to go home.
It started with a relaxed Kong living lavishly on Skull Island. He woke up and leisurely went about his daily routine of being King. After a brief encounter with his best friend Jia, which established their relationship, he took a large tree and turned it into a javelin.
Audiences were likely confused as to what his motive with this was. Still, everything was revealed after he took that fashioned weapon and hurled it towards the sky, eventually causing it to break apart a screen dome surrounding him and exposing his captivity.
It was a terrific way to open the film, as it displayed Kong's intelligence, gave us a great twist, and instantly established how humans treat the King. It's safe to say that The Truman Show would have ended a lot quicker if Jim Carrey could do this.
