10 Most Essential Characters In The Marvel Cinematic Universe
9. The Guardians Of The Galaxy
The Guardians are the hottest property in the Marvel Cinematic Universe right now and are undoubted fan-favourites. US box office profits are over $300 million alone. By virtue of their revenue generation alone, theres no way that Marvel could ever leave this team of reckless space-adventurers out of future expansion of the MCU. In fact, a sequel is scheduled for 2017, so we know these guys are going to be a significant reason for its success in the future. The Guardians of the Galaxy has undoubtedly increased the number of audience members for the MUC. With its success, this is a new franchise that film-viewers clearly want to see more of. Culling them out of film opportunities would not only be a costly mistake, but also runs the risk of alienating these new movie-goers who would certainly pay to see more adventures and interactions with the other players in the MCU. Theres the draw: interactions with other existing Marvel characters who have done well at the box office. If the Guardians interact with the Avengers, or simply even a few Easter Egg cameos (did anyone who knows the comic version of this team notice Cosmo the telepathic Russian dog?) well placed would drive Marvel fans nuts! It also makes for great new stories to audience members who will just simply mark that off as incredibly creative. The Guardians have built a lot of success for the MCU it would be a costly mistake to stop making great movies without them.
