Ant-Man. the most recent inclusion into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, gave us some of the most visually exciting moments yet in the MCU, as Scott Lang, played by Paul Rudd, transformed into the world's smallest hero.

Unlike many of the MCU's heroes though, Lang is a simple man, down-on-his-luck, and mostly looking for a way to provide a good life for his daughter. When he crosses paths with crazed industrialist Darren Cross, played by Corey Stoll, though, his family is put in jeopardy.

With Cross becoming unhinged due to over-exposure to the shrinking 'Yellowjacket' technology, he looks to take out Ant-Man and prove his superiority over his mentor, Hank Pym. When he and Scott Lang eventually comes to blows, Cross is seemingly defeated, but with the help of the Yellowjacket's regenerative capabilities, he returns to action, and attacks Scott's family, taking his daughter hostage in order to lure him into another confrontation.

In taking Scott's daughter captive, Cross does what so many of Marvel's cinematic villains have failed to do, in making his battle with his enemy extremely personal. Not only is he looking to destroy Ant-Man, but he is willing to do it by hurting what he loves the most, making this one of the most personal attacks in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.
